Born
in Bologna, Italy, Stefano Rover began studying the piano at the
age of four and made his public début with a short solo recital only a
year later. He was admitted to the” Luigi Cherubini” Conservatory
of Music in Florence studying under Rosa Maria Scarlino, where he
obtained his ‘summa cum laude’ (first honour) diploma. He then
furthered his study at the Accademia di Alto Perfezionamento in Perugia
and obtained the diploma of excellence under the renowned Lucia
Passaglia (pupil of Cortot, Michelangeli and Agosti) who has greatly
inspired his style and philosophy of playing. He also won
scholarships studying with Joaquin Achucarro and Maurizio Pollini
at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena. Over the past
decade, he has also received invaluable advice from Rudolf Buchbinder,
Homero Franscesh, Lazar Berman and Valentina Berman.
Stefano was the winner of many national and international piano competitions. He has given recitals
extensively in Italy, Switzerland, Germany, France, Slovenia,
Lithuania, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Indonesia and the UAE. And has
collaborated with orchestras such as Kaunas Philharmonic Orchestra,
Klaipèda Philharmonic Orchestra in Lithuania, the National
Philharmonic Orchestra of Uzbekistan and the Hong Kong Symphonia, performing concertos by Beethoven, Brahms,
Schumann and Rachmaninov. Rover’s repertoire is extensive,
spanning from Baroque to contemporary composers, with a major interest
in Beethoven works and Romantic period composers. His CD
recordings include Beethoven’s 32 Variations in C minor and Diabelli
Variations.
